The Passover
September 7, Scott Parkison

Each year whenever January 29th rolls around I get to celebrate my birthday. Not my day of natural birth (Jan 20th) but my day of spiritual birth. On January 29th, 1991 my life was radically changed. I was born again!  God transformed me from a rebellious teenager into a young man destined to be “conformed to the image of His Son.” Every year on Jan 29th I remember two events: 1) The day I was saved in 1991, 2) The day that Jesus died on the cross for my sins in AD 33. Those two events are tied together. My personal salvation in 1991 would not have been possible were it not for God’s judgment of sin that took place about 2000 years ago. Our salvation is something to celebrate!

The Mighty Acts of God
August 31, Scott Parkison

In the book of Exodus God unleased his people from bondage in Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. The nation of Egypt led by a hard-hearted Pharaoh were oppressing God’s people. They obstinately refused to heed the voice of God and release the Israelites. Therefore, God released a series of judgments upon Egypt in order to display his power. Never in history has judgment upon a nation and its hard-hearted leader been more of a direct display of God’s Sovereign power. The 10 “plagues” recorded in Exodus 7-12 led to a magnificent release of God’s people from bondage we call “The Exodus”.

We serve a God who saves! With a mighty hand, He saves! Through acts of power, He saves! In a rain of judgment upon evil, He saves!

Through His Son, Jesus Christ his great salvation has come to us!

God's Response to Our Excuses

When considering the call of Moses and all that God did with him it is easy to be intimidated. I hope I have made it clear that everyone’s call to serve God is significant. If I were to name all the people God used to touch my life when I become a believer 23 years ago you would not recognize a single name…not one. But their actions were significant to me. Your actions to serve God are significant because of the lives you will touch. Even if it is just one person. God bless you as you are “unleashed”.

God's Plan of Rescue Revealed

While explaining and applying Moses’ revelation of God from Exodus 3, Canadian Pastor Henry Blackaby once wrote: “God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, circumstances, prayer, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.” I have two questions for you:  1) When was the last time you clearly and unmistakably heard God speak to you? 2) What did he reveal to you about himself, his purposes, or his ways? If you can’t answer those questions I believe God desires to do something amazing in your life! Perhaps today God will reveal himself to you…speak to you…and unleash you to do his work. I am praying for you.
